For many years, Josef Trattner has been working with the material foam. Using this medium, he has realized numerous projects in public spaces.
A key feature of his work is the layering of art-immanent aspects, exploring the relationship of form, color, and materiality to interior and exterior spaces. His ephemeral stagings are always also social experiments, imbued with a self-reflective and critical potential.
A staged art landscape
The cube on site was originally exhibited at the Friedrich and Lillian Kiesler Foundation in Vienna and referred conceptually to Friedrich Kiesler’s ‘Endless House’.
The exploration of space and dwelling is inherent to art and has long engaged both sculptors and architects. In this context, the cube is set against—or placed alongside—an orchestrated artistic landscape, the vineyard. The transformations imposed by nature on both the vines and the cube are continually observed, sharpening our perception of the familiar. In parallel, various events featuring wine and artistic performances take place.
